New Deacons

We are so excited to welcome our newest deacons that will begin serving their three year term October 1, 2010. Three were ordained: Karen Alexander, Reid Chitty and Jacob Waller. We also welcome Keith Little on and welcome back Phil Kaylor and Faye Willingham. What a wonderful and spiritual group of servants. Please pray for them as they seek to assist in ministry to and through our congregation.

Please pray for the Deacons and our church as God selects the next six men and women who will represent the laity with the ministers of our loving church.

Deacon Recommendations for Feb. 17, 2010 mini-conferance

which is to be held this Wednesday from 6:00 pm - 6:15ish pm in the Family Life Center.
Motion: The Deacons recommend that the church normally sell all future gifts of stock or other non-cash items as soon as possible after their receipt unless there are extenuating circumstances. Proceeds from the sale will go into either the operating fund or into the account for which the gift was made. Motion Passed

Motion: The Deacons recommend that the church sell the 112 shares of Proctor and Gamble stock. Motion Passed

Motion: The Deacons recommend that the church establish a single restricted fund called “Disaster Relief” to receive funds to assist relief efforts as disasters or emergencies happen. The Missions Committee will direct the use of these funds. Motion Passed

Deacon Recommendations to the church

to be brought before the church in mini-conference this Wednesday, Dec. 16th at 6:00 pm:
1. The Deacons recommend that the floating limit on the church credit cards be increased from $5,000 to $10,000. This motion passed!

2. The Deacons recommend that there be only one worship service on Sunday Dec. 27th at 11:00 am. Sunday School will be at it's regular time (no 8:45 am nontraditional service this day. Some of the Burmese refugees will sing during the 11 am service). This motion passed!

Deacon Spouse Dinner & Meeting

will be Sunday night December 13th. Don't forget we have a dinner at Baker's Square and then our meeting at the church at 7 pm. Our Deacon Retreat has changed and will be held at the Sheraton Hotel, beachfront, Atlantic Beach beginning on Friday Jan. 29th at 7 pm and concluding on Saturday, January 30th at 3 pm. We will have a preliminary exercise to participate in during the Deacon/Spouse Christmas dinner.

Motions from the Deacons to be presented to the church in the mini-conference on November 11, 2009:

Concerning the use of the Family Life Center on December 31, 2009 for New Bern’s 300th Celebration: Motion: The Deacons recommend that we accept the contract as presented (allowing an adult venue in our FLC that teaches and give demonstrations of two dances: tango and shag).
This motion passed!

Concerning the Usher Committee: Motion: The Deacons recommend changing the Usher Committee to a Ministry Team. This motion passed!
